RESTORATION AND LANDSCAPE RESTORATION PLANS
The increase of activities in the field of agriculture, forestry, industry, transportation, mining (mines, quarries, sand and gravel pits), infrastructure works, urbanization, tourism and Ulusal Mermer ve Taş Ocakları Onarım Teknikleri Sempozyumu 18-20 Eylül 2014, Isparta recreation etc. cause permanent effects such as alteration of underground and ground sources, disappearance of biological diversity, destruction of vegetation, alteration of natural habitat and landscape. Since it takes years and years for the destructed fields to cure themselves and reach ecological balance by themselves, there is a need for technical intervention to restore, rehabilitate and reclamation such areas within the scope of restoration principles. The main purpose of technical intervention is to recover these fields’ ecological, economical and esthetical values as much as possible and to provide sustainability of natural sources. The European Landscape Convention, which we are a party and which is executed by European Council, is predicated on protection, planning (improvement, restoration and rehabilitation of landscape) and management of landscape, and party countries undertake to determine and apply their own policies. Within this scope, Landscape Restoration Plans enclosed to ecosystem assessment reports within scope and format determination are requested by our Ministry since 2012 for dams, Wind Power Plants (WPP), Hydro Electric Power Plants (HEPP) activities which are applicable to Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation.
